National Coin Week
Here’s an excerpt from the Mint’s Website regarding National Coin Week,
“The third week in April is National Coin Week, a week dedicated to celebrating numismatics – the hobby of collecting coins, medals, and paper money. Also in April is the U.S. Mint’s 227th anniversary, which has connected America through coins since 1792.
The theme for the 96th annual National Coin Week, sponsored by the American Numismatic Association (ANA) is, “Discover the Past, Envision the Future”. The space exploration theme focuses on discovery and invention throughout history, as 2019 celebrates the 50th anniversary of mankind’s first steps on the moon during the Apollo 11 lunar landing”.
An interesting fact, 2 state quarters are being used as spin balance weights for the New Horizons spacecraft. I don’t completely understand how that all works except that it keeps the craft going in the right direction in a balanced manner. They are floating way out in space somewhere.
The Mint has a space themed video game that you can play online.
Here’s the link for it:

The mouse with the left button held moves the craft up and down and can speed it up and slow it down. The space bar on the keyboard drops the supplies to the settlements.
It’s good clean fun! Watch out for the space obstacles!
Over 200 coin dealers nationwide are releasing older coins into circulation to spur interest in coins and collecting.
